SantaColor, ISO 100 36/135mm
SantaColor 100 is a 36-frame 35mm film with an ISO rating of 100, manufactured for the C41 process. Colors are vibrant, and the film offers a wide range of movement and fine grain, resulting in stunning results with strong reds and lush greens. It has a flexible exposure range and can be used up to ISO 800 with little loss of color accuracy and a slight increase in graininess. When shot at ISO 400 and extended by +2 stops in development, the film still has accurate colors and a nearly grain-free appearance. SantaColor 100 is more saturated than the Kodak Portra series, but less saturated and has a longer contrast curve than Kodak Ektar 100.
Film type : Color negative, derived from aerial surveillance
Film speed : 100 ISO
Composition: Very fine-grained, but made to produce very sharp images, as it is an aerial surveillance film.
Exposure width : Wide, acceptable results from 25 ISO to 800 ISO (pull and push).
Manufacturing : Freshly made in 2022, in the USA and hand-wound in Finland.
**DX encoding: **No, but most cameras with DX readers default to ISO 100 - so the film is perfectly usable in Point and Shoot cameras.
**Processing and scanning: **
**Processing: ** Normal C41, can also be processed in E6, resulting in relatively fine positives (exposed at 100 ISO).
**Compatible with Minilabs and other industrial processing: **Yes
Base : Mostly clear, slightly orange base. Not directly compatible with the RA4 process. Due to the thinner and brighter base, we recommend that you load the film indoors, and never in direct sunlight, as this may cause light leakage in the first few images.
Scanning : Due to the brighter background, some scanners get confused by the film and give a very red image. This is easy to fix with a home scan or a scan done by a good lab.
**RA4 Printing: **Clear film stock requires an additional filter to be compatible with the RA4 process. The easiest way to do this is to process unexposed C41 color negative film and use it as an additional filter to obtain normal printing results.
